the other mods you mentioned (73mm calipers, pads) will be better than stock. Go ahead and do SS brake lines too.
The rotors would just be for replacement, only a better rotor than the factory units (better materials). You can have a better rotor without being bigger. SS lines were another upgrade that was cheap and worked.

I was not aware that there were any aftermarket replacement rotors that were better than stock

Not sure about the Cobra, but for Ford trucks, yes there is. I have had tremedous problems with stock rotors warping on my pickups. As a matter of fact, it's going in on Wednesday to get the rorots turned again. And on the Cobra, I can just start to feel some pulseating in the peddle. That is one thing that bugs me with any vehical. Some aftermarket rotors are made with better materials than factory parts. For instance, a company named ART makes rotors to fit my Superduty truck. Acording to guys that are useing them, they don't warp like the factory units do. That, in itself, is better.

I can second that about the trucks warping rotors. My dads super duty and most all of the duties I have ridden in have had that problem. That sucks. I haven't felt any in any of my other 5 Fords though.

Yep, I've had the problem with both my superduties I have had. My 97 Heavy Duty hasn't had that problem yet, but it only get 5 or 6 thousand miles a year on it. on my truck now, it's almost to the point of being dangerous sometimes.

Oh, and our work Van (E-250) does it too. About every 20,000mi it gets bad then needs to be redone.

Well, back when I was all into my truck and diesels, I used to hang around www.thedieselstop.com Most guys used to like rotors from a company called ART I'm sure you could find them on the net, or head over to the diesel stop and ask what is the best to use. Most of those guys over there are helpfull.

On edit. Look here. They are talking about the saem thing we are, and there is a link to ART right near the top of the page.

I have talked to Steve the owner a couple of times. I called him tonight and he talked to be for about 45 minutes about brakes and braking systems in general. He is very versed in his business and a general good guy. I asked him about rotors for my 93 Cobra and he said no problem. I may look to him when the time comes for the Cobra. The superduty will be getting brakes from him as soon as I recover from tax season and such.
