WONDEFUL FORD WINDOW WORK

Post by POOBLAH »

Well as im sure most of you know... Ford window motors suck... BAD.... so I have been forced to work on mine.. The diagnosis was fairly easy... The Motor was stuck because of the window arm sticking ( a little grease fixed that). I did however decided to check the window motor to see if it was working which it was and also to check the damn plastic pieces in the motor itself. You know the ones I'm talking about. They basically connect the gear that sticks outside the motor with the gear that is turned inside the motor. Now the past 3 times I've just concocked a fix using different bushings and whatnot that I can find at home depot and/or lowes and it seems to work... BUT.....

THIS IS A COBRA and I want to fix it the best way I can.

So what has everyone else done to fix the windows in their fox bodies?
Just wanting to get some thoughts.

I always clean out the inside of the large gear, place a 1/4 inch nut in each of the three corners and reinstall the other smaller gear and fill in the rest of the gaps with some epoxy. After that you will never have anymore window problems. I will see if I can a picture up thurs, or friday.

I would be afraid that the 1/4 nut would eat at the metal of the casing or the inner gear.. I guess you have not had any problems with this? I would be very interested in seeing pictures, if it is not too much out of your way.

Is the part number the same for all of them? Mines driver side.
The number for my window motor is E4ZF-14A389AA

From the sound of it I think it will be something I'm interested in. Whats shipping from you to Louisville, Kentucky?

One last question pertaining to the motor... Is the metal gear (9 teeth) that sticks out of the motor, look good? The one I have has pretty deep scoring from the other teeth of the window regulator.
