My door panels are in pretty decent shape, with the exception of the map pockets, which are toast. I was on the CJ Pony Parts site yesterday and they listed Opal Gray map pockets w/o the entire panels. Has anyone seen/tried them yet???

Heh ... me too ... they are pretty high on my list of fox body & 93 Cobra pet peeves, along with the hood, the wing, the wheels, fuel pump access, heater core access, key system, fuel door, wheel alignment mechanism, ash tray door, blah, blah, blah.sn8k1 wrote:I hate those damn pockets. They always sag down and get caught in the door.

Where's a fella to put his pistol?sn8k1 wrote: Let us know what happens. When you get the new ones, dont put anything in them!

Well, I prefer mine on the hip or in an ankle holster!
A friend of mine just told me a story of how his concealed weapon saved his life. He was nearly car jacked until the armed man heard him put a round in the chamber. It caught the man off guard and my friend had time to drive away. Crazy. Great story though.
Take care of that stang!

Those door pockets do tend to sag. The last time I had one that was annoying me, I put some new elastic in to hold the pocket up. It wasn't a perfect fix, as I threaded a smaller piece of elastic thur the openings, and attached to the old elastic with 2 small safety pins. The pins were hidden as they slid back into pocket folds. You only noticed the fix, if you looked for it. The elastic was free, as I got out of my wife's sewing stuff, of course I didn't tell her....
I am looking into these map pockets right now. I requested a small sample of the color/material sent as well as pictures since the site does not have them. I disassembled my map pockets and I have a general question about their craftsmanship.
The map pockets taken off my Cobra had the sag almost built into them. It was because of the poor elastic.. It was because they were folded deep behind the board and STAPLED low in 2 places. That would imply that it came from the factory like this. I have even looked as some VERY LOW mileage cars with the same issue. Ive seen cars with perfect map pockets but they are rare. It makes me think that this is not factory like this.
Also does anyone have a suggestion on a good way of repairing the Vinyl? Mine have several cracks where it got to dry but it is still repairable.
FYI: The board has a part number for the map pockets... Keep in mind ... this is for opal grey, drivers side.
