Care of new Gatorbacks:

Post by cobrasnake93 »

After the "dry look" wears off, what tire wet products do you guys suggest to blacken the side walls?

Ive seen some product CAUSE the sidewalls to crack prematurely, so I'd like to avoid that.

Have some Tire Wet in stock and also some Back to Black.

Do you just keep cleaning the dead rubber off and leave dry? Please discuss what you like!

This stuff isn't cheap, but IMO, it's the best out there ---> Adam's Super VRT

Optimum Opti-bond is the best tire dressing I've ever used. It't not too glossy and lasts a while.

Kinda depends on what look you like too. I've never liked the wet look. I just like them to have that new look. There are plenty of products out there to choose from, so just use whatever you like. I honestly don't think any one of the products will prematurely wear out a tire before it's to replace them. The environment will pretty much determine that for you, especially if the car isn't stored indoors.

Here in Missouri, we have a very humid climate, so rubber hoses and tires last a lot longer than they do in the south and places like California.

I know one product that's good for cleaning the

dead rubber off of tires... Simple green cuts right

through it. Wouldn't let it set on wheels or get on paint

though.

Aerospace 303

You need to make SURE that whatever you use has UV protection plus no petroleum products in there. I'm assuming these tires will be sitting a lot. Sitting is what causes tire problems. Heat generated while driving continually renews the surfaces of the tires with the waxes and such.

Using silcone based protectants further leach the materials from the casing.

303 is a UV protectant without petroleum distallates and much better for the tires.

If you are driving on them, however, then pretty much anything will work.

Agree on 303, not to wet looking makes tires look good and last a while.
