Well a little more progress. I have been trying to find where to mount the computer and where to run the wires. I have finally decided to put the computer in the passenger side fender well. It will not be visible from under the hood but will be tucked up inside the fender. It will not interfere with the fender liner or suspension components. i have it roughly sitting in the right place. I have to build a mount that will weld to the frame. I haven't started to TIG weld yet so I am going to use it to learn with. Unfortunately my MIG skills aren't as good as I wished either but I am getting better with practice.
Here is the close proximity to where the computer will mount

I didn't take pictures of all of the trial wiring I did, but I will take photos once I have started to run them in the correct place.
I did clean up the rear floor pan underneath the car. I also welded the lower torque boxes in. I know my welds aren't the best but they are going to hold well and aren't hideous.

I got a new part in on Friday so I thought I would put it on. Still waiting on the new JLT Cold Air Kit

I know that some of the next photos may not make sense. They are of the routing of the heat exchanger hoses.

I then moved on to actually mounting the heat exchanger. I utilized all of the bracket for the 2011-2013 kit but I had to modify them all. I welded the upper tabs to the upper radiator mount. The lower tabs I welded to the A/C Condensor lower mounts. This worked really well. I had to sand tons of rust of these lower mounts. I will probably have them bead blasted then powder coated in the final phase of the install.

Here is the final mounting of the heat exchanger and the pump. I utilized the 2011-2013 mount for the pump as well. I had to modify it quite a bit. I will probably make a new one as I don't like it too much.

I forgot to mention. I have decided to go with a different hydro-boost system. I originally purchased a set up off of a Mach I. I don't want to have to modify the booster, the firewall or the pedal assembly. After some research I found a kit from Hydratech. I ordered there system and after a week build time it is with UPS on its way here. I hoped it would be here by Friday but it is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.
I also did more research on a steering rack. Turns out that AGR makes a rack with the same valving as the 2000 Cobra R. It is a 15:1 rack and I have no idea where it is. I ordered it on Monday, they billed me for it, but no other information. I will follow up with them on Monday of this next week.
I received my rear brake mounting kit. I will have to post pics of it tomorrow. Brian at Fiveology was kind enough to have a set made for me. He has been great with helping me source the Brembo calipers that will go on the rear axle as well. The kit looks great, just need to order the axles, bearings and housing ends from Moser to get it started. I already have everything else for the rear diff.
Since I now have the rear decided upon I decided it was time to order the front kit. I have the Brembo Grand Turismo 14" being assembled now. It is roughly a two week wait so I have just over a week before it ships. I am going with the slotted rotors not the cross drilled.
After all the brakes are installed I will roll the fenders and measure for the wheels. I don't want to order them until I know the exact dimensions. I really want a 9" front wheel and I have the 96+ spindles so that will take away some of my options.

Thanks, Yes it is harder but you have better control of the welds. I had a big break through on the MIG today. I had the darkening helmet turned up too high and couldn't see well enough. All of my welds are coming out better but need more practice.
With my MIG I know it will take getting used to but I have a very good fabricator that is going to teach me TIG. He is also going to teach me better with the MIG. I have learned everything off of the video that came with my welders and the InterNet

Nice, I never watch the help videos, maybe I should, can't wait to see finished product, sounds like you have planned everything out perfectlyF8L SNK wrote:Thanks, Yes it is harder but you have better control of the welds. You made me laugh, time is something I don't have much of. If I had time this project would be done already
I have only worked on this for about 8 total days tops. Of course that is adding up the few hours here and the few hours there. I have been very busy at work (more busy work than productive work, Ie: $$$$$)
I am a salesman, have been for almost 20 years. I have always been mechanical ever since I was a kid. I still remember pulling apart our lawn mower and reassembling it.
I took auto mechanics in high school and was professionally trained in lots of mechanical areas by the USAF after that.
I have always been , and will always be into cars. It is my release from reality.

X2. Your level of attention to detail is quite impressive. Very enjoyable to watch this build progress. Thanks for taking the time to post all the pics and descriptions.trackpilot wrote:Very cool man! I would love to be able to do all of that stuff by myself.
I enjoy seeing all the detailed pics of the build. It's gonna be awesome after it's done!
