Console color

I have an almost stock car trying to get it back to factory. One of the last things I needed was the original cd player to be fixed. Well, I got it back from being repaired and installed it into its proper place.

When I took off that ungodly aftermarket faceplate, it looked like there was grey plastic in the holes made when they screwed it into the black, original radio console. My car has the grey interior and I'd like to know if the radio console should be black or was it painted that way at one time and it should be grey?

I want to know so I don't end up repairing these holes and waste my money and time having to buy a new console.

Thanks.

I believe it should look like this. There are 4 holes on the edge of the black that shouldn't be there, these are from an old aftermarket radio setup.

Yup, that's exactly what I have. I just may be seeing things, then. On to filling in those holes in the console!

Yup, those extra four holes are definitely from an aftermarket stereo set up. I was lucky with mine, I was afraid I might have to find a lower center console without holes and the stock stereo to go with it.
