Here is a link to a quick video of what I am talking about (I couldn't figure out how to embed it in this post). Looks like I'll be taking a trip to my local Mechanic...
Next question now that I am researching recharging out A/C systems. I assume being a 1993 is uses R-12, so what is everyone doing to recharge their systems? I am seeing a lot of conflicting information about either having to or not having to make changes to the system in order to use R-134A. The only thing I do know for sure is that you cannot mix them and should have the remaining R-12 removed from your system. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!
I was concerned about this issue awhile back when they stopped making Freon. You cannot remove all Freon from the system and simply replace w/R-134A. Certain A/C components need upgrading as well. I checked with my local Ford dealer at the time and was pleasantly surprised to learn that a conversion to R-134A was less than $300. The price may have increased somewhat from several years ago, but I'm guessing it's still a relatively inexpensive job.
