I have a ABS light on in my dash. It comes up as a drivers side air bag sensor. I know zero about this. Can anyone shed some light? Where is it located? Are the sensors specific to cobra or the year of the car? How many sensors are there? Are they interchangable? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

there is one inside the driver side quarter panel down low at the front edge near the door edge, it is actually called a safing sensor. there are three on the radiator support the primary, the left , and the right . you sure its not the left front? what is the diagnostic code your getting? I have the service manual and can get whatever info you want. the codes for the sensor in the quarter panel are codes 21,22,23,and 24. codes for the actual airbag itself are 32 most common, and 34. code for the front sensors are primary (center) 41, right front 44, and left front 46

Its been a while since i checked the code, but i'm pretty sure it turned out to be the drivers rear. A shop checked it and told me the part was like $200 and another $250 to replace it. I passed but now its starting to bug me. Figured i would see what info i could get here to see how hard it would be to replace.

you can count the flashes of the airbag light and that is the code. So code 32 is flash flash flash pause flash flash. it will repeat each code three times then any other codes will follow,

It's a 23 code so i guess it is the drivers rear? How hard is this to replace?

it could be a wiring problem between the airbag control and the sensor , or a connector, or a bad sensor. i can scan and email the check proceedure if you need it , but as far as changing the sensor ,
1)disconnect positive battery terminal
2)remove rear seat cushion
3)remove quarter panel trim panel
4)remove two screws retaining sensor to B pillar
5)remove sensor from B-pillar
6)disconnect wiring connector
reverse proceedure to reinstall
