I want to replace the console base due to some cracking. Seems pretty straight forward except the car has an aftermarket stereo installed. It has the the stock looking storage tray with it. I am wondering if anyone knows how the radio comes into play when replacing the console. I can't really tell if i can just pull the radio out or what? Anyone dealt with this? Thanks.

See the two holes on each side, top and bottom? There is a tool that slides into these holes, releasing the tabs on the side letting radio slide out.

Or just grab a coat hanger and make your own. The coat hanger wire is just a hair undersized, so it make not release the tabs all the way, so some fidgeting may be involved, but it will work with some persistance.

Really depends on what kind of aftermarket dash kit was used, the most common was the one that you had to screw the 4 screws through the outer area. If it is like that just un-screw the screws and should be able to pull the radio right out, unplug the wires and then it should be out of your way.

Meh, ya, only half read you post.......I was speaking to an OEM radio.

Like Willy said, it's probably screwed in. There is probably a plastic bezel used to fill in the gaps and holding the radio in place.
