carbon cannister

when i replaced my radiator, i noticed a black box with two hoses and one hose was off :shock: did some research and found out it is the carbon cannister, how important is this thing?? should i replace witha anew one?

Is it broken? Or did the hose simply dry rot and fall off. If so just replace the rubber vacum hose and be done with it.

Its part of the emission system. There is a vaccum line from the intake to the canister with a electric solenoid switch and another line that runs to the gas tank. Its designed to keep gas fumes from leaking out into the air.

Those rubber hoses get real nasty and start to crumble with age. When you grab them you will get this nasty stuff on you that's real hard to clean up so use gloves

yes hose is dry rot and off, so should i replace just the hose or the whole cannister?

Just replace the hose vin, should be fine after that
