Water Pump Rebuild-

Post by JohnLynch »

I sent my original pump off to;
Arthur Gould Rebuilders
5R Main St.
Kings Park NY 11754

631-269-0093

They did a great job, they bead blasted it as well and they also included the gaskets all for $89.

Great post. Never new there was any place for the average guy to send one off for a rebuild..........not that I ever looked.

Will definitely keep this in mind if I ever have one go south.

Well you can get a repro from china aka ford for around $45 but I just didnt want to go that route.

Just an FYI -

Summit Racing sells the Ford Racing water pump, it's brand new, not rebuilt or refurbished.

Ford Racing Part #: M-8501-C50
Summit Racing Part #: FMS-M-8501-C50
Price (as of 02/10/13): $43.95

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m ... /overview/

I've used these in the past on many 5.0 Mustangs, never an issue and beats buying any "parts stores XYZ brand pumps"... plus, the price is really fair, considering its a brand new Ford Racing water pump.

Just might be something to consider in the future. I'm running the 94/95 Ford Racing water pump on my 94 Cobra after the original failed a few years back, excellent pump AND was Ford cast/Ford part numbers right out of the box.

Thats actually the one I bought and its made in China so I returned it, I wanted to keep it original hence getting the original one rebuilt. :sword:

Wow, really?? I guess Ford Racing has changed it's supplier on these, as the last one I bought was still a genuine or original Ford unit (but this was a few years ago).

Just curious, is it the box or casting that now has "Made in China" on it (just for future reference)?

I know the 5.0 "Cobra" upper intakes are sourced out to China now as well, the ones that are supposedly "Ford Racing"...

A lot of good info here!

Im working on resealing my timing cover, and was wondering.. whats the best way to store a water pump in the mean time? Currently I have it half way submersed in coolant so the seals dont shrink. Does this sound right?
