Exhaust hangers
Exhaust hangers
Ford installed my Borla catback today. Only glitch was my existing hangers for my flowmasters were welded to the mufflers and the borla kit did not include new hangers. I am thinking the easiest way would be to just take the car to a exhaust shop no??

Why didn't you take it to a muffler shop first?

Yes. They can fab hangers or cut your old ones and reuse. Easy fix.

Yea I guess the ones welded on my flowmasters were too flimsy looking. Its strange borla didnt include hangers the box was sealed before I opened it. Maybe i will call borla, they said they stand by the exhaust for a million miles how about some damn hangers!
On my teal only toy i have now.

Re: Exhaust hangers
a mechanic and a muffler guy are two completely different things, as you now know. a muffler shop would have supplies to make hangers and would have finished the job .

No sweat. I just got hangers welded on right down the road. I go to my buddy at ford because I trust him with my car. I steer away from backwoods shops at all costs too many bad experiences. All I would need is to show up and see my SS exhaust laying on the pavement all scratched up. Their is something to be said about peace of mind and professional work. I also don't like walking home/work and those muffler shops around here don't drop you off. You have to sit there and read old newspapers on a folding chair chewing on straw. Time is money.

Re: Exhaust hangers
Sorry man, but must not be much of one if he can't Fab up a exhaust hanger. I do all my own exhaust in my shop without a lift! Not tyring to be mean, but it seems most Ford Technicians these days cant change oil without over filling it.JohnLynch wrote:1993cobra wrote:Why didn't you take it to a muffler shop first?

They actually didnt have a welder which I thought was weird doesnt ford need to weld stuff? Guy I took it to today had fresh new hangers he did it in 10 mins, measured, welded, they used the blow torch to take off the ends. Came out nice.

Re: Exhaust hangers
i dont think ford mechanics fix too many things that need welding , if something is broken they replace it. but you know there bodyshop has a welder.

Re: Exhaust hangers
I use Universal hanger for the muffler, measure, and bend the hanger, then weld the hanger to the muffler. Easy peasey.
