Long block value

Post by 93vnm »

Just wanted to get some input on what a 150K long block that needs to be freshed up might be worth? This is out of #4785 and I'm thinking of selling it and buying a fresh short block as an opposed to tearing it down and installing new gaskets...etc. I want to install a set of GT40X heads, different cam, lifters, etc either way...

Any input would be appreciated.

It would only be worth anything to whomever owns car 4785 as it has a partial VIN stamped on it.

Otherwise, it's not worth much IMO. I bought a worn-out shortblock like that for $100.

Ya, sorry.......forgot about the heads. Any more, used sets can be had for around $250 from what I've seen. I guess there's not a huge demand for them with tons of aftermarket ones available.

If you actually own the car it came out of, I say use the Original block, it has 150K on it, so it's a Proven Block, I am sure a good Hone and new rings and it will be good to go. Slap in a B-Cam, and a set of X heads and you'll have a nice little motor, Just as good as any Reman you going to buy, Probabbly better.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the input..... Probably will freshen the bottom end up and slap Gt40X heads and a B cam in it.

If anyone is interested in a set of stock gt40 heads contact me... I will have them off the motor very soon.

On top of the block, close to where the rear lower mates to the lifter valley.

Keep the Original heads, one day you will wish you still had them.
