Considering the stolen/stripped report made it into Carfax (and we all know the limitations of Carfax), I would guess a lot more than the steering wheel was stripped. That being said, the incident occurred in Feb. 1994 when there was still plenty of original replacement parts available thru Ford. I would guess that many of the replaced parts are genuine Ford parts.

That is a really good point. It sucks that it was stripped but I am sure the parts are all genuine. The guy said the car is numbers matching all the way around. I am going to get a list of all the places to look for VIN and have him double check. I might just have to jump on this. The car is pretty cherry in my opinion aside from the fact that it was stripped.

Would there be someone I could contact to found out more specifics about what was actually stripped? Would SVT try and keep track of that? Ford? Just trying to learn as much as I can before I take a flight to LA.

Your best bet is the NICB database or other source that could help you track down the theft report/insurance claim on the car. Better yet would be the previous owner info so you could possibly track down the body shop estimate/invoice paperwork that would show the replacement parts and any repairs done. Of course, this info is very difficult to come by.

Unfortunately, its highly unlikely Ford/SVT would have any of that info. Good luck.

the car had had about 4 owners so tracking down guy #1 might be impossible.

I called 2 Ford dealers in in the area where it was reported stolen and purchased. no luck.

NICB - no luck

Ford SVT and customer service - no luck

That is about what I was thinking. The carfax has it tainted along with the dipped wheels and steering wheel. Although I like the look of the chrome wheels.
