I have a guy that would sell me a teal cobra with black interior with a "R" title, for $15,000. At one point the car was black and he had it painted it teal. It looks like a nice car, but am I wrong to think that he wants about $10,000 dollars to much?

LOL, that's why you need to find a car with all original paint, never even been worked on.

I have no problem with the car being modded, Because that is what I will do anyway.

I wasnt talking about modding, I was talking paintwork, body work, etc. All that adds in value to these cars especially.

If you are going to buy a car that has been repainted a different color, you'd be better off just buying a GT and a Cobra body kit and building one.

$15K for the car you describe is ridiculous, unless it's got a serious drivetrain in it.

For $15,000 It would be dumb not to buy ceetwarrior's cobra! Which is at the top of my list. Just will have to come up with more cash, wasnt planning spending that much.

This is what was pm to me:

I have a 93 teal cobra with black interior that I have owned since 1998. It has 38,000 miles on it and is in real nice shape. It was originally a black car that has an r-title and was redone and painted teal. The paint job was done right and paint is real nice around doors, hatch and under hood. Cowl and mirrors were painted teal too. Everything in the engine bay was left black which really sets it off with the teal paint. It has a few mods like 3.73 gears, B-303 cam, pro 5.0shifter, 75mm chrome mass with K&N cone filter, Fluidyne polished aluminum rad, Samco blue silicone hoses, Taylor blue race wires, March pulleys, Crane Hi-6 ign. box and coil, chrome 5.0 valve covers, water pump, and other chrome pieces under hood. Has original black cobra floor mats with the red lettered cobra on the front mats. Has billet aluminum shifter bezel, a/c knobs, door panel plates, door handle plates etc. Has white face gauges and original am/fm cd radio. Black interior is immaculate. The battery is rear mounted in hatch hidden behind the left side hatch panel which would make a nice future s/c set up. It has brand new nitto 555 extremes ( 245-45-17 front, 275-40-17 rear ) tires on nice oringinal 93 cobra wheels. New brake pads all around. I know that I am missing some other extras but that is pretty much it. I have won some trophies at local car shows and cruises with the car. I am really fussy with it and it is always garaged and only been caught in the rain twice since I have owned it. Like I said, it is not completely oringinal and does have an r-title but it was redone very nicely. It had to be in order for me to buy it. I just took some pics of it for Heacock Classic Ins. and can send some to you if you are interested. I don`t really want to sell the car but I was thinking of getting another car and if I do i would have to sell the cobra. I would have to have around $15,000 for it. Let me know and send me your email address for pics if you want them. Thanks

The pics he sent, it was a good looking stang, but I just think he wants to much. Just seeing what others thought.

Sounds nice, but that repaint KILLS that car. Why would anyone repaint a rare car (another color) when they could just trade for the teal that they wanted. Makes me think it was wrecked or something. Most people dont just wake up one day and say "hey I think I will repaint my car today". It's like, "well it needs a new front clip from an accident, lets repaint it teal instead of black".

The thing with my car is, I was dumb and bought a bone stock car, then modded it to my liking, and have way more invested into it, than if I had bought an already modded one that someone is taking a loss on! Now I have to be the guy taking a loss if I ever decide to sell it. So dont just look at the initial cost, look into the future and how much you are going to spend to make it the way you want!

R-Title usually means "rebuilt" title in most states. Carfax won't always show a wreck. It's possible that it was a theft recovery and wasn't in a wreck. Check for VIN stickers on the body panels.

Personally, for that kindof money, stay clear and go buy a nice original w/ low miles. Or for less money, go buy a high mile car and build it with the left over cash.
