Burnt Teal on Copart

Post by drkhrse »

What a shame. Outer cobra parts look good, to bad it is so far away.

Ugh. Could you imagine watching that happen to your car? Sickening.

Hope everyone was ok and the owner had stated value insurance coverage...

Yea no doubt...I was standing next to the owner of a kit car that looked exactly like a Shelby Cobra as it melted to the ground (body was fiberglass)...this wasn't some hack job kit car...it was really nice (saw it around town a few times in the past)...he was crying, vomiting, etc...Said it took him and his son 5 years to build it (it was his retirement gift to himself).

Just driving down the road and it burst into flames...

Since I was the one "investigating" the incident, I kinda had to be professional, but I sat there and thought...if I was here watching my Cobra burn to the ground, I am SURE I would be doing the same thing...

Then the vol. firefighters show up, put it out and start prying open the trunk with axes and pry bars (about the only part of the car that was still identifiable and still had paint on it)...Naturally they (firefighters) were laughing and having a good time...he just regained composure until they started doing that....started balling again...

I had a little "chit-chat" with the fire chief after that one...

It's hard to get aftermarket charcoal interior to match and look original.

This is the 2nd time Copart has listed it, first time was on sealed Bid, not it's a regular auction.
