Trade chrome wheels for stock-style anthracite wheels..?

Post by whoop »

I have a set of aftermarket chrome 17x8.5 wheels that came with my '93. Picture at:

I prefer the stock look, but I want to stay with 8.5" width, so I'm still looking for aftermarket wheels, styled like the factory wheels. Picture at:

I may end up just buying a new set & selling mine, but I thought I'd see if anyone here might want to trade, before I do that. Please email Dave at whoop@hotmail.com if interested. Thanks!

OEM wheels

Post by #2098 »

I have a set of factory original 17 x 7.5 with tires and center caps, I prefer the chrome. Also have a polished set Cobra replica wheels, not as bright as the chrome, 17x8.5 on new Nitto 555. Also have WW draglites for the rear with M/T slicks, let me know if any interest you.

Mark, thanks for your reply. I really want to stick with 8.5", so I'm not really looking for stock wheels. Mine's lowered and I've had the rear fenders rolled, so everything's tucked under nicely right now with no rubbing (with 245/45's). Thanks for your offer, but I'm really looking for anthricite finish, or even silver, as opposed to polished. I just had 555's put on, so I'm also ok on tires right now.

That brings up another question, though -- was the stock wheel "anthricite" or "silver" finish? I couldn't seem to find anything related to the stock finish, and when I look at the following website, I'm not sure which is original:

Thanks again, Dave

I think the silver wheel that wheel replicas sells is closest to the original wheel color.

I don't have repros on my current 93 but yes you have to swap the front rotors for GT/LX 5.0 rotors or the fronts will stick out and look terrible(personal experience)...The rears will stick out further than the stock wheels but in my opinion look good...maybe even better.
Didn't mean to jump this tread..just trying to help

Rotor Swap

Post by #2098 »

Thanks, I just recently acquired this Mustang and I am still becoming educated in the specifics of the '93 Cobra. I just wanted to make sure that all I needed to do was to change the rotors. Guess while I have it all apart I could paint the calipers red....

So all I need to do is a rotor swap? Do I use the 278mm or 256mm rotors, pretty sure that the Cobra is 277mm ...

thanks

I'm not sure on the mm but just tell them you need front rotors for a 93 Mustang GT and don't mention the word Cobra and hopefully you'll get the right parts..
