LRS is good but take their advice and let them send you color samples before you order your covers. Your 93 Opal gray is not the same as the Opal gray they sell..They have a great match in leather that I used in my last 93 but they don't call it Opal Gray.
I didn't like they grain in the leather they sold me but I didn't have any choice..It isn't bad but it is different than the original which doesn't have hardly any texture to it..
New foam is a must in my opinion.

93 Material

SMS Fabrics has the Original ford Leather, YOu have to buy it in a Hide though. Yes it is expensive, however it is better than not having the correct material.

So go with the SMS Fabrics leather and then have someone local make them or will LMR do it if I send them the fabric ?

Seats

Post by aaronlstiles »

If you have a Nice car, that is what I would do, as long as you know a GOOD seat guy. Mine Moved to IL, He did some Bad ass work. I have yet to find another guy who can match the quality of his work. I am new to Utah, and I haven't heard of anyone who does seats out here really Good, Just some so, so Guys. I bought 1 set of 5.0 resto seat covers, I was not impressed at all.

Distinctive Industries is who was making the seat covers for LRS when I bought mine...2 years ago..LRS isn't making the covers they just sell them (as far as I know).I was pleased with the quality of the covers but like I said earlier the grain of the leather isn't close at all. I was never completely happy with the replacements.

Exactly how bad are your seats?? If it is just a small portion worn or torn I would think about having the damaged panels replaced by a GOOD trim shop by using the material from an original rear seat..I bought new foam and covers because I didn't have any front seats in my car when I bought it..Email me a picture of your seats and I'll give you my opinion.

The seats are really good except for 2 panels on the driver front and a small tear on the passenger down by the flip up lever to access the back seat.

Right now I've gutted the interior to remove all dirt/dust grime and replace door weatherstrip and replace actuators, motors beltline weather strip and trim pieces.

I am having mine done right now. I bougt mine from Late Model Restoration. Like what was said earlier completley different texture. They seem to be darker also. I ll post some pictures when I get them back hopefully soon. Also my seat guy said they seem to be a tag on the big side the skins. I also got the new foam.

I got my lower portion of the rear seat back I had to drop some other stuff off to the guys. The guys did great work however take the advice of the above poster and have them send you samples because its not even close. Its to late now though lol I learn to live with it. However

Buy these seats and use the material to replace the damaged panels on your seats. I would do this before I would buy the repro seat covers. I didn't have any front seats in my other 93 when I bought my covers from LRS.

Received their sample of leather "opal Grey", it is no closer of a match than the LMR sample and actually appears to be the same materiel, and is darker than that of the original materiel :(

Seat skins

Did U, cut a Piece off of your old seats? Like a Piece that was under the headrest or bottom of the back seat. This way it woud not be faded as much. They match mine Perfect.
