There is a cheep cardboard thing ford used. I can get a picture here in a few (I'm heading out to the shop now). I made a plastic one as I didn’t want to destroy the original, it is not very high quality. the carpet is ACC I got from Aaron. It doesn’t quite match the original, but is pretty close. I need to buy new stuff for the front anyway so then it will match itself.#2098 wrote:Question about the rear seat delete on those cars. Did Ford just pull out the back seat and cover it with carpet or is there some special insert that they made for them. Also, where can you get the carpet ? I want to pull the backseat from mine and dont really want to spend $300 on some flimsy attachment that the carpet doesnt match.
R Rated, 93 Cobra R goes on a diet.

Here is the original 93R seat delete card board piece. not very impressive. I made a much stronger one so I can crawl over it when needed.#2098 wrote:Question about the rear seat delete on those cars. 93R seat delete
I could be wrong, but all the wrapper cars I have seen, at least the 93's have not had a Rear seat delete, due to the Spare tire, It sits about 4 to 6 inches above the carpet it's self. the one's I have seen have had Velcro attached to the bottom of the carpet and the Trunk Floor.
Re: 93R seat delete
You are correct, sorta. The seat delete goes right where the bottom of the back seat resides. When I saw #1 a few years back it looked like the cardboard had been flattened out over time. It really is cheesy, most people removed it, and possibly not all had it. I heard many didn't even have carpet. (not sure how true???) The back part is velcroed to the floor over the full size spare (looks really stupid to). I made a plate to cover the hole and have no spare in the car. Looks much better and I can actually put stuff back there.aaronlstiles wrote:I could be wrong, but all the wrapper cars I have seen, at least the 93's have not had a Rear seat delete, due to the Spare tire, It sits about 4 to 6 inches above the carpet it's self. the one's I have seen have had Velcro attached to the bottom of the carpet and the Trunk Floor.

carpet
you have to call ACC Direct as no one sells the carpet by the yard, The 93 Opal Matches Really Really close, I find it hard to tell the difference, I think maybe a NOS Carpet would match the ACC, over years they fade some so an original carpet may not match perfect.#2098 wrote:Maybe I will try to make a template and get a hold of Aaron to find out his carpet source. Maybe SMS ? and how to order. Would be nice to recarpet the whole car while Im at it ....
If you buy a new Floor carpet, make sure you buy the Massback Carpet, as the regular ACC carpet fits like Crap! the last 3 mass back carpets I have bought fit great! I do have a template made for the rear seat delete, Jason Probabbly has the best one though, his original carpet. Both my 93R's where missing the original rear carpets, so I had to make them by using the carpet out of a regular hatch as a template, Just made it a little bigger due to the height of the spare tire it will use up some carpet on the edges.
Here is a Video clip of the R warming up the other day. Bit cold in the shop, I had yet ot fire the heater up.

It's been a while sense I posted an update. I've been working on my shop lately and the R has been taking a break. Today I got her new hood in the mail. I got a used Cervini Heat Extractor. It looks pretty good, has some shipping damage. I probably would have been better off with a new one, oh well. No I’m not leaving it black, I’ll get it painted this spring.
Still need to clean up in front of the lift.

1st row is 8' tall, second is 12'. Lots of floor space now!

New (to me) hood

Paxton approves!
