tail light question

Hey guys, quick question on the tail lights, does the cobra lenses have black or charcoal stripes? The cobra that I bought this summer looks to have one original (and really faded with no pin stripes) tail lense and what looks like a fairly new tail lense. I don't have the car infront of me to really check but I believe the new lense is black, but from the research I have been doing, I believe the correct lense is charcoal. I'm wonding if the previous owner replaced the lense with the incorrect SVO lense. Below is a link to a pick I have of both lense. It looks terrible, and I am kind of a perfectionist and I want to get these things right. Thanks again for the help.

They should be a darker color with the lines in the lenses, more like a black to lighter gray color.

The Tail Lights are Dark Chrcoal, not black. Both the lines and the case.

Thanks Aaron, that's what I thought but just wanted to make sure. Looks like the previous owner bought the wrong replacement. Now I'll be replacing both.

you can get the original ones on 50resto.com for $150. just make sure you get the grey not black.

So I ordered a pair of lenses from foxresto.com the other weekend cause they were offering free shipping, only cost $140.00. Well I got them the other day and I opened them up and the pinstrips go all the way to the end of the lenses on the corners. I'm pretty sure at least one of them ends short on the original lenses, what's up with that?

The one that ends short is the middle one on the bottom red section. It ends just after the curve of the light. HMMM someone didn't do there homework before re-making them.

Yes and in order to do them right, you will need to paint the stripes on. That is how you tell NOS from ford tooling. The Ford tooling are tape stripes not paint. Easy fix, tape the lenses off, remove the tape and spray them Dark Charcoal SEM spray paint in a can. Perfect match.

Or if your not picky, just cut the center tape and peel if off. No one will know except us anal 93 Cobra guys.

Put the new tail lights on this weekend. I kept the taped on stripes for now, might go back and spray them on later. You can't see it in the photo but I cut back the one stripe that shouldn't go all the way to the end of the lense. I used the original lense as a template and measured where the stripe ended (about 3 in needed to be removed).

Can someone give me an exact measurement of how much tape stripe needs to be trimmed like the factory ones have it? i need to do mine but am unsure of the length.
Oh and a pic or link would be awesome too.
