You know what is strange about this Cobra?

Owner is stating it was stolen in his classified ad. CarFax and Auto Check are not showing the VIN as one being reported stolen (and neither should ever be solely relied upon as having 100% accurate vehicle history).

That peaked my curiousity, so I also checked the VIN with the NICB Database and it too is not showing that VIN as ever being reported stolen. Weird.

Something even more strange - when googling or binging the VIN, there's nothing that comes up on it, nothing at all. Previous Copart listings would usually come up if the vehicle was ever listed by them online...

No, not possible. I think it was wrecked bad and he is saying it was "stolen" to alleviate people thinking it was smashed into a tree.....

Thanks for the report John! Yeah, it's a little strange...I'll see if he can check for Vin tags when he goes to snap some images. No accidents reported either though. Wish it was a little closer but if I can swing it I might try to see it Sunday.

Pay cash for the fix, dont call the man and an accident wont show up. Kinda hard for it to not show up if you report it stolen, unless it was stolen and he went and go it back.

My little sister let my '89 GT roll down our long steep driveway and into a tree back in 2001. It shows up as a "Salvage Title/Certificate Issued Rebuilt Title Issued" on Carfax with no associated accident.

My Insurance company totalled it and reported it as a salvage title. Since it happened on private property I do not believe the accident itself was reported.

I tend not to trust any of the above services.I have seen vehicles with clean reports suddenly showing up with Salvage Records and visa versa.Does anyone know why that would be? Am talking about cars with all vin tags in place and no evidence of paint work. Check the car in person and then form your own opinion.

Too much project for that money. I can go look at this one if anyone has interest, I'm in Alameda about once a month. The teal car I was trying to see was only $2,600...it was a steal!!
