Painting my Cobra

Post by amigrad »

OK guys, some of you may remember my Cobra I recently purchased. The car is black, with black cloth, and it has an R title. I've spent some time tracking down the right injectors, and MAF meter. My question is this. I want to paint the car, and I figured since it was an R title I could change color and not worry to much about collector dollar figures. paint color to be decided (toss up between the cobra teal or '04 mysticrhome), Any thoughts??

PS...The car does have some dings, so it will need paint.

I KNOW HOW U FEEL. I HAVE A TEAL ONE THATS IN OK SHAPE. HAS 80K MILES. BUT I WAS THINKING OF CHANGE THE TEAL COLOR ON MY CAR A LITTLE. IF MY CAR HAD A BAD TITLE I WOULD. ITS A HARD CALL. IT COULD HURT U IF U EVER WANT TO SELL THE CAR..

Since I'm not from your state, what does an R title mean, precisely? Is it salvage? Or does it mean the mileage can't be substantiated? Or???

Reconstructed title...Simply means either the car was fixed from an accident the insurance company deemed to be to expensive to fix, they buy the car from the owner, and brand it with an R title. A car with frame damage has an R title, or such as the case with my car, the car was stolen, and stripped. The key to an R title car is driving it, and putting it on an ailignmentr rack. Mine drives straight, no dog tracking, rides properly, and there was frame damage.

so why don't you list the car and see if it sells?

Here in AZ we call that a salvage title, and I think you are correct. That R title is a serious deal breaker ... I suspect an R titled Cobra might bring less than a well-executed clone with clean paper. Consequently, your view on paint may be accurate. But remember, a color change raises the ante.
