It's been a six month process, but the thread on the Corral paid off and now Wheel Replicas is doing their '93 Cobra replica wheel in a five lug version with standard Fox back space.

These are limited production, only done when the waiting list grows to 30 people, and the first batch is done and in the hands of the customers. I bought 2 1/2 sets, one set for a friend and an extra two for me, maybe for Drag T/As. The quality is beyond words, nicer than the OEM Cobra wheels, nice enough that they really couldn't be any nicer. The second list is in process and has 12 buyers as for now, read the thread here:

My car has Eibach springs and the Motorsport M2300K '94-'95 Cobra brake kit, so it has the longer SN-95 axles. Tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3, 255/40 front and 275/40 rear. The rears clear the fenderwells which are rolled, but it looks like 245s or 255s may clear without rolling. I am doing the Ranger axle conversion with the North Race Cars caliper relocation brackets, to tuck the rears in for a stock appearance.

The car had polished Cobra Rs on it for more than 11 years, it's nice to have it looking stock once again. So to recap the specs, they are 17x8.5, one inch wider than stock, with a 29.5 mm offset, and they are optimized for a Fox with SN-95 front spindles and Fox-length rear axles, for which you can use Ranger/Bronco II/Aerostar left side or aftermarket axles. These are adaptable to a variety of rear disc brakes with the North brackets, even the stockers if you have the rotors drilled for five lug.

Are all finishes $500? We have our name down on the second list for a set of chrome ones. Do you know approximately how much shipping is?

The only finish done was the original silver. Chrome would be more, but the manufacturer says that he needs a minimum of 50 sets in chrome alone to do a chrome batch, which doesn't seem likely to happen. The factory deals in huge lots, so they can't do a few sets in different finishes. If you need chrome, there are a few companies that can chrome them for you, not real cheap but maybe the only way. There were about 7-8 chrome orders on the original list, but it wasn't enough so they took the silver. So be optimistic, but don't be disappointed if they can only do silver.

Shipping was $65/set to AZ, it's up to $85 depending on how far from Texas you are.

Great, now we'll be seeing our 93 Cobra wheels on SN95's and ****.

Mixed feelings here... kinda happy kinda sad.

The replica wheels look tight on these cars though, I like fat rear tires, much better than stock.

Anybody know of a place that does good work restoring the factory rims? Preferably in florida, kinda like the pic up top of the five lug rim. I have to redo mine pretty soon.

Maybe a few sets, but not real likely since they are a limited production special order only, non catalog item that the company is not planning to make a regular production item. Also, when the 4 lug replicas came out in the regular Fox backspace, you saw them on all kinds of GTs and LXs, not too different. They might look decent on a '94-'98, but personally I think those cars are... how do I put this nicely... boring as hell and borderline fugly, so I don't care what kind of rim they dress them up with. They wouldn't look good on the '99-'04, and won't fit the '05+, so most sets sold will end up on Foxes, and a good half or more on '93 Cobras.

Anyway, I finished my Ranger axle/North Race Cars caliper bracket conversion, so the rears are now nicely tucked in a stock looking location. Had to flip the quads for the 275/40s, tweak the parking brake cable brackets a little bit, nothing else - Dynomax 2.5" stainless tail pipes clear fine.

This is easily the nicest '93 Cobra-specific product to come out for us, beating out even the 1:18 scale GMP diecast cars. Love 'em.

it would be awesome if they made a 4 lug rear in 8.5. Do they already and I have just missed out on it? Also a 3.5 skinny would be the sh!t!

They do make a 8.5 4lug. Thats the STD aftermarket replica rim.

NO.

The aftermarket Cobra wheels were designed to fit standard Fox cars, they will stick out too far on a '93 Cobra. Some like the look, but it's inviting tire rub and doesn't look stock.

To make the four lug replicas work on a '93 Cobra is not hard nor expensive, mostly just the labor. Swap to regular 5.0 front rotors and you're done in the front. For the rear, use regular 5.0 GT/LX axles and get the North Race Cars relocation brackets to move the calipers inboard to match the new rotor location. The whole job can be done for $300 or less, and you get wider wheels that can handle a 275 tire, not to mention fresh, new wheels.
