Running hot
Just put AC back on my 93 and now the car runs hot as hell. Today on the way to work car didnt run below 205 reached past 210 sitting in the parking lot. Not sure what the deal is, has new fan clutch, newer radiator, fresh coolant, new waterpump. Car does have a 160 t stat could that be my problem? Drive it daily so cant have it overheating on me constantly.

Yes sheet metal plate went back on,yes t stat in the right direction and yes the condensor fins are stright. Just put a 180 t stat in today and no change. Ran around 210 and up today. Car has H/C/I, full exhaust, Granatelli MAF,Cold AIR. What temp should the car be running on a 100 degree day with the ac running. Temp stays pretty consistent while driving but as soon as you let it sit for more than a couple minutes at idle it shoots up big timeMike S. wrote:Did you install the sheet metal plate on the back of the new water pump? Thermostat installed in the correct direction? A/C condenser fins not plugged or bent, good air flow through it? Should have a 180-190 t-stat. Need more info: Engine all stock or hot rodded? Ever removed or rebuilt?

I'm not sure how accurate the stock temp gauge is, but mine runs just below the half way mark with the A/C on in moderate traffic, Arizona, about a 110 degree day. Middle would be 200 if accurate, it can creep up there in stop and go traffic. I have a Fluidyne aluminum radiator, but it didn't make much difference from the 3 row copper/brass unit it replaced. The original 2 row was barely adequate, and the original fan clutch started leaking when the car was only a couple years old.
210-215 is OK to run, around 230 I'd start to worry. An aluminum rad will help hold the temp a little longer before creeping up, but makes little difference in keeping it stable. Around here, the Lincoln Mark VIII electric fan is the one mod that really does make a difference in cooling, you have to run an aftermarket control box to turn them on at the right temp, and a 130 amp alternator, along with a wiring upgrade, to power it up.

I have a mark VIII fan that has been cut to fit a stock 5.0 radiator just havnt seen how I am gonna mount it it yet. Car doesnt have a stock radiator, has a 3 core. Ran around the same today(was 102 here) and really started to shoot up when it sat for about 5 minutes past 210 probally around 220, Have an automoeter temp gauge on the car so I can keep an accurate look at the temp. never trust stock gauges.

MARKS93SVT I may be having an old man moment and not thinking correctly but didn't 93's come with underdrives and an overdrive for the water pump? If you changed to an aftermarket set of underdrives then that could be the problem if you switched the waterpump as well.
SVOJOE did you put the cobra pully on the waterpump? IF it is just a standard one it isn't spinning the waterpump as much as the Cobra one would.
