Re: Help o Cobra R
looks like there were 6 california1993 Cobra Rs and NO Cobra R had CA emissions. while CA street Cobras did have CA emissions. So weere they given special exemptions or were they thinking no R would be street driven?

Hey, Admin. Inquiring minds want to know...1993cobra wrote:then Vin will also tell what emissions it has

All '93 Cobra VINs read as follows: 1FACP42D*PF****** with the following breakdown -
1 - Built in USA
F - Ford Motor Co.
C- Passenger Car
P42 - "GT style" 3-door hatchback
D - Cobra-only 302 V8
* - check digit
P - 93 model year
F - assembled in Dearborn
****** - Mustang line production number
Where in the VIN does it tell what emissions the car has?

Re: Help o Cobra R
It's the last two numbers add the two then multiply the product with the last number then if its a even number answer it's CA emissions , odd is non CA

The last two numbers of my Cobra's VIN are 2 and 4.
2 + 4 = 6
6 x 4 = 24
Your formula indicates my car is CA emissions, which is incorrect. The selling dealer was in PA and the car did not have CA emissions prior to being modified.
Also, I thought the only other place (other than the window sticker) one could find out whether a particular Mustang had CA emissions was to check the emissions decal under the hood.

Re: Help o Cobra R
I was just kidding about that formula... I meant that I could look up a vin to see if it had CA emissions. The vin itself does not have a digit that tells.

I can check it on Sunday night.
Re: Help o Cobra R
How many miles? 7500+ and you can bring a 49 state car in. Also, look at the emissions label......this is from our wonderful C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board)
To find out whether a car or truck is California certified, check the emission control label under the hood in the engine compartment. If the vehicle is California certified," this label will state that the vehicle conforms to California regulations or that it is legal for sale in California. If a vehicle is "federally certified," the label will state that the vehicle conforms to U.S. EPA regulations, but no mention will be made of meeting California requirements

Re: Help o Cobra R
So even a 49 state car can be registered if it has more than 7500 miles? Does anything special need to happen or you just transfer title and register?
